Twistlock flat racks are designed to carry twistlocks, hanging stackers, and midlocks with the ship during transit from port to port. Once the ship enters port and begins loading or unloading operations, the flatrack is offloaded onto the pier. As needed, the bins are removed from the flat rack and fork lifted to where the stevedores are conducting loading or unloading operations on the pier. As the containers are loaded or unloaded, the twistlocks are taken from or returned to the bins.
